Senior Accountant

We are currently seeking candidates for the position of Senior Accountant.

Reporting to the Director of Financial Reporting, the ideal candidate will be focusing on financial reporting (internal as well as external) and technical accounting. You will work closely with all levels of the organization, including the Director, Financial Reporting and Controller and VP, Finance & Accounting. This exciting, dynamic, and challenging role requires a Designated Canadian CPA or equivalent and a problem-solving skill. 

As the Senior Corporate Accountant, you will be responsible for the compilation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for consolidation. 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in timely and accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial close and reporting process;
  • Gain understanding of intercompany or inter-facility transactions and ensure the same are eliminated at a consolidation level;
  • Assist in the preparation of the Company’s quarterly and annual Consolidated Financial Statements, MD&A and other financial sections of the Company’s Disclosure Materials as well as being responsible for producing monthly financial statements;
  • Assist with the internal and external audit processes including directly managing the relationship with the external audit team;
  • Assist in preparation of memos and supporting files for complex accounting transactions, and demonstrate strong technical knowledge of accounting standards;
  • Ensure a strong controls environment and fiscal integrity of the company’s business through the enhancement and management of accounting systems and controls;
  • Support the ERP system implementation;
  • Collaborate with the regional/ divisional finance and accounting team to identify ways to streamline financial close processes and drive efficiencies in the pursuit of continuous improvement and better overall performance;
  • Other duties as may be required.

Qualifications:

  • CPA, CA or equivalent designation;
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience either from a public accounting firm or public company;
  • Strong financial literacy and financial writing skills (financial statements, MD&A etc.);
  • Strong knowledge of MS Excel and other MS Office applications;
  • Experience with Sage and Microsoft Dynamics will be preferred;
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines;
  • A proactive and independent individual;
  • Excellent technical accounting skills and knowledge of reporting requirements.
